Diffuser Installation GuideUpdated a month ago
Tools Required
- Trim removal tools or flathead screwdriver (plastic preferred to avoid scratches)
- Socket wrench set
- Cleaning supplies (microfiber towel, isopropyl alcohol)
- (Optional) Jack and jack stands for better access
1️. Preparation
- Park on a flat surface.
- (Optional) Jack up the rear for easier access.
- Clean the rear bumper and surrounding area.
- Make sure the exhaust tips are cool before starting.
2️. Remove the OEM Diffuser
For most BMW models:
- Locate the screws and clips, look underneath the rear bumper, you'll usually find 6–8 screws or push clips holding the diffuser.
- Remove fasteners and use a socket wrench or screwdriver to remove them.
- Use trim tools and gently pry the diffuser away from the bumper starting at one corner. It will have plastic clips that snap into the bumper — be patient and avoid cracking them.
- 🔧 Tip: If you have an M Sport bumper, removal may require a bit more force since those diffusers sit tighter.
3️. Test Fit the Carbon Fiber Diffuser
- Hold it in place to make sure all tabs and holes align.
- Some diffusers may require minor trimming for a perfect fitment.
4️. Install the New Diffuser
- Line up the tabs and snap it in place, starting from one end and working your way across.
- Reinstall all screws or clips you removed earlier (or use the hardware provided).
- Ensure everything is flush with the bumper and centered properly.
5️. Clean and Inspect
- Wipe off any fingerprints or smudges from the carbon fiber.
- Check that the diffuser doesn’t rub against the exhaust tips.
